On Sunday, June 4, from 1 to 3 p.m. we’ll be planting crops and grooming the fruit trees at one of America’s Grow-a-Row (AGAR) locations. This is our third year working with America’s Grow-a-Row, a non-profit organization that grows, gleans, and gives free fresh produce to those in need through the massive efforts of generous volunteers like us. The fresh produce goes to food banks, food pantries, and soup kitchens so that those in need will benefit from free, healthy food choices.

Due to the unpredictable nature of farming, the weather and the productivity of previous groups, we won’t know the exact location of our event until about one week prior to the date. The location will either be the AGAR Pittstown Farm located at 150 Pittstown Rd, Pittstown, NJ 08867 or their Milford Farm located at 401 Woolf Rd, Milford, NJ 08848.

In the winter months AGAR representatives go to schools and community groups to educate young people on issues of hunger and how to help. They also go to underserved communities and do healthy eating & cooking lessons with the children, providing them with a healthy meal during our class and ingredients to take home and cook the same recipe with their families.
