Our Section has worked to develop understanding and acceptance of diversity since we were founded over 25 years ago. Now we have a chance to make a real impact in the entire community.

The Morristown Presbyterian Church is organizing a festival celebrating all the diverse cultures in the Morristown area on the Morristown Green on Sunday, July 8. We are working with the Morristown Jewish Center to represent the Jewish community. Rabbi David Nesson and Cantor Shana Onigman are working with other religious leaders to create an interfaith service that will take place at 11:00 a.m.

A committee of our members, led by Sharon Feigin, is making latkes to serve to attendees. Each group is teaching each other the recipes and making the food together.

To teach people about Judaism, we are displaying our gorgeous quilted chuppah. It is sure to attract a crowd. We need volunteers to be there from noon to 6 p.m. to explain to visitors what the squares in the chuppah represent. We also need volunteers to staff a table where visitors can decorate squares of paper to be glued onto banners for each participating organization to display to their congregations. If enough people volunteer, we can do one-hour shifts.

If anyone would like to give a musical performance (with a Jewish theme) at the festival, please send a video (under two minutes) as an audition to Cali Woods at cwoods@pcmorristown.org.
