Cantor Perry Fine, “The Voice” of Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston, recently led a Zoomed NCJW-West Morris Our Jewish World program, titled “Hatikvah and the Zionist Spirit,” which explored the fascinating saga behind the creation of Israel’s National Anthem, “Hatikvah (The Hope).” Cantor Fine analyzed the original poem by Naftali Imber, Hatikvah’s oft-disputed musical roots, and its role in the birth of the Zionist state.
